Cookie policy

Which cookies and browser-storage keys we use, and why.

My Proper Home uses cookies and browser local-storage to make the site work, plus — only if you accept — a small set of analytics cookies to understand how the public site is used. We run no advertising or retargeting. The keys below are everything we persist in your browser.

Essential cookies

  • Sign-in session tokens — issued by our authentication provider when you sign in, used to keep you signed in across page loads. Cleared when you sign out.
  • Theme preference — remembers your light / dark mode choice (one localStorage key).

Functional local-storage keys

We use local-storage (not cookies) for the following, all scoped to your browser and visible to no one else. Clearing your browser data removes them.

  • mph.recentlyViewed — the last few properties you opened, so the home page can show a "recently viewed" strip.
  • mph.saved-searches — searches you've saved.
  • mph.compare — properties you've added to the comparison cart.
  • mph.chain-mood — your current chain mood (until cross-device sync lands).
  • mph.landlord.* — rent log, expenses, compliance, tenancies, maintenance and document indexes for the landlord dashboard (until the matching server schema is deployed).
  • mph.nudge.* — last-nudged timestamp per chain to rate-limit nudges to once per hour.

Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

These load only after you tap "Accept" on the cookie banner, and only on our public pages — once you sign in, they're switched off for the rest of your session, so your chains, documents and personal data are never sent to them. Tap "Reject" and neither ever loads.

  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymised traffic measurement (page views, referrers, rough location from a truncated IP). We never send it your name, email or any personal data. Opt out for all sites with Google's browser add-on.
  • Microsoft Clarity — anonymised heatmaps and session replays of the public site to help us improve layout and usability. Text and form inputs are masked, and it never runs on signed-in pages.

Changed your mind? Clear the mph.cookie-consent.v2 key (see "Clearing cookies / storage" below) and the banner will ask again on your next visit.

Third-party services we use

  • Apple MapKit JS — loaded when you view map or street-view features. Apple may set first-party cookies on its own CDN domains while serving map tiles.
  • HM Land Registry — postcode lookups for sale- price history. No cookies.
  • Ofcom Connected Nations — broadband data, served from our own S3 bucket. No cookies.

Clearing cookies / storage

You can clear everything from your browser's site settings: in Chrome, Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data → myproperhome.com → Clear.
